IAWPA to Host First World Chaplaincy Day on May 31st, 2025
The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) says it is pleased to announce its plans to host the first-ever World Chaplaincy Day on May 31st, 2025.
IAWPA in a press statement signed by Amb Emmanuel Nkweke the International Spokesman said this historic event aims to recognize the vital role chaplains play in building peace globally.
"Chaplains are often the unsung heroes of peacebuilding, providing spiritual guidance, comfort, and support to individuals and communities in crisis. They work tirelessly to promote understanding, tolerance, and reconciliation, often in the most challenging and fragile contexts"
The World Chaplaincy Day will bring together chaplains from diverse backgrounds and faith traditions to share their experiences, best practices, and insights on peacebuilding.
The statement further said IAWPA which enjoys a Special Consultative Status under the Economic and Social Council ECOSOC of the United Nations will use the event to feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities.
IAWPA according to the statement is proud to partner with several chaplain groups in the state, including:
- The Nigerian Army Chaplaincy
- The Nigerian Police Chaplaincy
- The Federal Road Safety Corps Chaplaincy
- The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chaplaincy
- The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Chaplaincy
These chaplain groups will be actively involved in the planning and execution of the World Chaplaincy Day, ensuring that the event is inclusive, informative, and impactful.
"The World Chaplaincy Day is a significant step towards recognizing the critical role chaplains play in promoting peace, understanding, and reconciliation. IAWPA invites all stakeholders, including governments, civil society organizations, faith communities, and individuals, to join us in celebrating the invaluable contributions of chaplains worldwide". The statement concluded.
