Brief Report on the Commemoration of the UN International Day of the Abolition of Modern Slavery
Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso | 1 December 2025
The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) participated in the commemoration of the United Nations International Day of the Abolition of Modern Slavery in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The delegation was led by Amb. Dr. Vivian Anyanwu, alongside four other delegates.
A conference was held at Sonia Hotel, Ouagadougou, with speeches and discussions involving IAWPA delegates, students, religious leaders, and the Inspector General of Police from the municipal authority. Key discussions focused on modern slavery and human trafficking.
The delegation also paid courtesy visits to the South African and Nigerian Embassies, where discussions were held on collaboration to combat modern slavery.
The event highlighted the continued global challenge of modern slavery and the importance of cooperation, awareness, and strong enforcement. IAWPA reaffirmed its commitment to advocacy, education, protection of victims, and continuous sensitization.
